Just before the start of the qualifying session, it was already exciting for Lewis Hamilton. The Brit had to go to the stewards for two separate incidents but ultimately received no grid penalty.
Two incidents to the stewards
In the third free practice session, yellow flags were waved because Max Verstappen drove slowly across the track. However, Hamilton drove on at full speed and was called to the stewards' attention. "There was no yellow," is Hamilton's response at Motorsport-Total.com. According to him, there was no stationary car. Hamilton was right because according to the stewards the yellow flag was a mistake.
In the second incident, he held up Nikita Mazepin while the Russian was on a fast lap. Hamilton says he has already apologised to the Haas F1 driver. It was a tricky situation because Hamilton never saw the Russian coming due to the curves and the walls at the edge of the track. Mercedes was fined for this and Hamilton received a reprimand.
