Verstappen honest: "Of course I'm disappointed in myself"

Max Verstappen unintentionally gave away pole in Saudi Arabia to Lewis Hamilton, but is very calm after qualifying. He takes it upon himself to explain the crash on his final flying lap.
A mistake is quickly made on the narrow, very fast Jeddah Corniche Circuit and it is just as quickly punished. "Of course I'm disappointed in myself regarding that last corner," Verstappen explains opposite The Telegraph. "Until that moment it was running very well, it was a mega lap. Until that last corner it went super. A mistake is in a small corner though, especially on a street circuit."
Verstappen positive about chances in race
"Also this is racing," he adds. "It can't always go perfectly. Nobody is perfect. Until that last lap it actually was." The Dutchman is not yet concerned with the possible consequences of his mistake for his position in the title race. "You could have said the same in Mexico, when I set the third fastest time in qualifying. A lot can still happen. I really do think we have a chance of attacking Mercedes in the race", he concluded.
The Red Bull Racing driver is also aware that the points will be won on Sunday. The speed that Red Bull showed on Saturday is encouraging. "It's encouraging that the speed is there. That hasn't been the case in the last couple of races, so I hope we can keep that up. In that respect I am positively surprised, but of course I prefer to start first. So there are still plenty of chances," concludes Verstappen.
