Max Verstappen has had a long night. The Red Bull Racing party had to pause for a few hours to await the stewards' decision but was able to continue afterwards. One thing is inevitable even for Verstappen after such a night: a merciless hangover.

Verstappen drank a little too much

The brand new world champion admits he still needs to recover from last night. "To be honest I don't feel one hundred percent yet. Maybe I shouldn't have had that last drink", he says in conversation with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. That's all part of it after a night like that, says the Dutchman.

In the Netherlands, there is a lot of discussion about where the homage to Verstappen will take place. Whether that tribute will actually take place does not seem to be taken into consideration. The Red Bull driver doesn't rule it out but says he doesn't want to think about it at the moment. First, we need to recover from the weekend, and then there is a tyre test on the Yas Marina Circuit on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, also Mercedes seems to have accepted the result. Toto Wolff has sent the world champion a message in which he congratulates him and acknowledges that he has earned the title. Lewis Hamilton did so immediately after the race, something Verstappen has deep respect for. "Lewis is a fantastic sportsman, although he undoubtedly had a hard time after the race," says the Dutchman, who acknowledges that there is a lot of mutual respect between the two.
