On Tuesday many of the current drivers took to the Yas Marina Circuit again for a test day for Pirelli with the new 18-inch tyres that will be used next season. All teams except Williams participated in the test with Daniel Ricciardo being the fastest in the end.
Lots of data collected for McLaren
"It was a good test day to end the season with", Ricciardo looks back on the website of McLaren looking back on the test day in Abu Dhabi. The Australian drove a total of 95 laps and with 1:26.252 set the fastest time of the drivers who drove on the new, wider tyres from Pirelli.
According to Ricciardo, the time on the track with the 2022 tyres was very useful. "We learned a lot and collected a lot of data, which is useful with a view to next season. We still have a few things to learn before we race next year, but we are in good shape."
Stroll most productive driver
Of the drivers on the 2022 tyres, Lance Stroll was the most productive. The Aston Martin driver drove a whopping 143 laps and also set the second-fastest time. Charles Leclerc set the third-fastest time in the Ferrari. Max Verstappen set the eighth fastest time.
For Ricciardo, the season is now definitively over, as on Wednesday Lando Norris will get into the car for McLaren. "Now I'm looking forward to going home, catching up with my family and taking some time off before we get back in the car in February," he said.
