During all the euphoria after winning the world title, Max Verstappen said on the radio that he wanted to stay with Red Bull for a long time. At the press conference before the FIA gala the Dutchman repeated this wish.

Make it work

The words do not seem to fall on deaf ears. Red Bull is now assuming that the Verstappen camp will soon discuss the matter with the Austrian racing team, as reported by Motorsport-Total. According to Helmut Marko it would even be an option to finalise a contract extension quickly.

Red Bull makes no secret of its desire to continue with Verstappen, as Christian Horner previously announced during the FIA press conference. The team considers Verstappen to be the best and most consistent driver on the grid. There is even a comparison with Ayrton Senna.

Mercedes after all?

Verstappen's current contract expires in 2023. That's the same time Lewis Hamilton runs out of his contract at Mercedes. Red Bull is not afraid that Verstappen chooses to switch to Mercedes. According to Marko on the site, too much happened at Silverstone to make such a switch possible.
