Christian Horner saw the championship briefly slip from his hands in Abu Dhabi, but with a sharp strategy his team managed to turn it around with Max Verstappen. Still, the Brit was surprised by Mercedes' mistakes.

A title decided in the last lap of the final race. It was a dream scenario prior to the 2021 Formula 1 season. A script that seemed impossible, but it happened in 2021, and according to Horner it was Red Bull's best season ever.

Mistake by Mercedes

"Compared to other titles, this is definitely the best. This title is possibly even better than the first one we ever won. We had to fight hard for every win. It's a phenomenal achievement by Max and the whole team", said the Red Bull Racing team boss according to Speedweek.com.

Horner saw his team make the best choices in the race, but was surprised that Mercedes did not bring Hamilton in on his old tyres. "Everything seemed to slip out of our hands. All the hard work this year seemed to have been for nothing, but at the end we finally had a bit of luck and got it right", concluded the Brit.
