Ferrari managed to rid the curse of 2020, and developed enough to finish third in the Constructors' Championship this year. In 2022, the team hope to take even greater strides.

With Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in their ranks, Ferrari have two excellent drivers who should be able to fight for victory at future Grands Prix. The team still seem a long way from that though, as they may have been better than McLaren this season but they couldn't come close to the performance of Mercedes and Red Bull Racing.

Binotto proud of Ferrari development

However, the Italians know from past experience that the team has what it takes to achieve the same. With the rule changes in 2022, Ferrari could well spring a surprise and fight for victories again. Team boss Mattia Binotto, speaking to Formule1.nl, however, was cautious with his statements, pointing out that Ferrari need to prove themselves first. "If I look at where we are today, the gap is still big," he notes. "But it's part of the DNA of Ferrari. It's important that at least in some races we can go for the pole and the win. That's the simple consequence of continuously growing and improving."
