Jean Todt has a rich past at Ferrari. The Frenchman won five titles with the drivers and even six with the constructors. Todt decided to become president of the FIA at the end of 2009, but as of last month he no longer holds this position. A return to Ferrari is obvious, but it does not seem to be on the cards at the moment.

In December a number of rumors surfaced that Todt might take on the role of "super consultant" at Ferrari, but according to information from Corriere della Sera this is off the table. Todt himself is said to have asked John Elkann if there was a role for him at the Maranello-based racing stable, but the Ferrari CEO replied in the negative.

"After a series of considerations, Elkann decided to abandon this valuable but complex collaboration for the time being," he said. Todt could have fulfilled the role of super-consultant, as a point of reference for both the Ferrari president and Mattia Binotto," writes the Italian newspaper. Elkann would not see the added value of it.

Todt on the job somewhere else?

Todt would have understood the position, although his immediate circle speaks of a certain disappointment. It is not excluded that the 75-year-old Frenchman will do things for Ferrari at a later stage in another function, but"Todt is not the type to be kept on a short leash". So there is also a chance that Todt will be working somewhere else in 2022.
