If there is one team looking forward to the new season, it is undoubtedly Haas. This year, the American team hopes to get away from bottom spot in the standings. In doing so, hopes are especially focused on Mick Schumacher.

Difficult to excel

Although it is difficult to excel in a car that lacks speed, the German at least showed his team during the final races of his debut year that he was the right man in the seat. In Turkey, Schumacher equally surprisingly managed to reach Q2. The first and only time Haas managed to make it out of Q1 in 2021.

Looking back, Guenther Steiner doesn't understand how that was possible. "I'm still surprised about it," he told Formula Rapida"Obviously he's getting the maximum out, I don't think there's anything else that happened but I was very surprised at the last races because we were so close to the tail end of the midfield, because it's clear we're lagging behind them for the reason that we didn't develop so I am a little bit surprised."

Structural

The coming year will be important for both Haas and Schumacher. In order to eventually advance to a better team, Schumacher will have to rise above the potential of the Haas car more than once. Actually since the end of 2020, Haas is already focusing on the new car, which will be totally different due to the rule changes. In doing so, Haas hopes to give Schumacher a car that competes in the midfield.
