Sebastian Vettel may have lost the final of the Race of Champions to Sebastien Loeb, but the German says to The Race that he is open to a future in off-road racing.

The Race of Champions is an annual event where drivers from different countries and different classes compete with identical cars. It's all about the driver's skills in unique locations. This year the race was held in northern Sweden and so the surface was icy.

Opportunity for Vettel

While Vettel had a lot of trouble on the ice on Saturday and alongside Mick Schumacher, on behalf of Germany in the Nations Cup, didn't get further than the quarter finals, he got the hang of driving on ice better during the individual race on Sunday. He made it to the final, but had to settle for second place.

Asked if he would like to drive more often on roads like this, Vettel did indicate that he has some catching up to do, but above all he was very optimistic. ''I think I enjoyed it very much. You need time and experience, but if someone wants to give me another chance and has some time, I definitely want to look at the possibility,'' said the four-time world champion. For now, however, the German is still fixed in F1, where he is gearing up for his second season with Aston Martin in 2022.
