Carlos Sainz is getting ready for his second season at Ferrari and spoke to Corriere della Sera about the new season. In that conversation, he underlined his admiration for Michael Schumacher.
Schumacher became World Champion seven times during his Formula One career and has many records to his name. He drove for Ferrari from 1996 and became a World Champion five times. With those five world titles, he has become the most successful Ferrari driver of all time.
The Spaniard would like to have another talk with the German World Champion. Since he has been at Ferrari, he has heard many stories about the driver. "He is a man I would have liked to meet, to have as a companion, to understand how he managed to be so special. Every mechanic talks about him and it's great to hear how he managed to win over a whole group, to drag them along, surrounded by esteem and affection," he said.
Ready for 2022
Sainz will start his second season at Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc. Ferrari hopes that this young duo can bring them back to the top of Formula 1. Both Leclerc and Sainz have proven that they are fast and can finish on the podium, but in 2022 they could just be fighting for victories again if the car is good enough. Ferrari finished last season in third place in the Constructors' Championship. The Spaniard finished in fifth place above its Monaco teammate who finished seventh.
