Lando Norris has only been driving in Formula 1 for three years, but in that time he has become one of the most popular drivers on the grid. In 2021, the young Briton experienced his best season yet, but it was also one of the most intense seasons of Norris' still fledgling career.

Intensely tough season for Norris

With 160 points and sixth place in the championship, 2021 was Norris' best season in Formula One. In an interview with GQ Magazine the McLaren driver does admit, however, that it was also an intensely tough season. The season had no less than 22 races. According to Norris, that can really take its toll and you can get extremely tired. "It can already be an exhausting sport at the halfway point, let alone at the end of the season."

Fortunately, Norris does know how to take his mind off racing during free weekends. According to the 22-year-old driver, it is very important to know when to take the time to relax and be busy with other things than Formula One.

High expectations at McLaren

Despite the tough year, it was also a year in which Norris was able to profile himself, something he therefore sees as a building block for next season. Expectations for 2022 are high at McLaren, although it remains to be seen how the new car will perform. "There are so many rule changes this year, so nobody really knows where they stand," he said.

When it comes to the new season, Norris is especially looking forward to the new Miami Grand Prix. The Brit thinks it's going to be crazy there. He compares it a bit to the atmosphere that Monaco has, with many celebrities who will attend the race, but without the historical aspect. Anyway, a new circuit on the calendar is always something to look forward to.

New season of Drive to Survive

Starting March 11, the fourth season of Drive to Survive will be available on Netflix, in which we will likely see a lot of Norris. "They followed me everywhere, including at home," Norris reveals in advance. The McLaren driver had a good year, so he is hopeful that he will be seen a lot in the new season. "I'm looking forward to seeing it when it comes out," he said.
