Chance for De Vries

De Vries will in fact continue his work as reserve driver for Mercedes in 2022. The reigning Formula E champion previously spoke to GPblog about his future in F1 and working with Mercedes, but at the time was not sure what his role would be within the F1 team.

De Vries is, in fact, also active as a Formula E driver for the German brand and has already driven three races this season. His teammate, Stoffel Vandoorne, has also been designated as a reserve driver for the Mercedes F1 team. With that, Toto Wolff's team has two experienced drivers ready behind Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
