The FIA intervened harshly this week by allowing Michael Masi to leave as race director. The organization believes that a different structure is desirable to prevent new problems in Formula 1. Karun Chandhok does not think the FIA should go one step further and take the world title from Max Verstappen.

Much has been said about the championship battle between Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in recent months. Where the Brit was fast on his way to his eighth world title, the race control intervened remarkably at the end of the race and ensured that Verstappen suddenly still had a chance to win the world championship. The Red Bull Racing driver ultimately succeeded.

Chandhok takes on Verstappen

Although Verstappen himself could do little about the situation, several people within the Formula 1 world felt that the race committee's decision was unjustified. Since the FIA has said goodbye to Masi, there are calls to go even further. Chandhok would find that unjust, as he says at Sky Sports F1.

"I don’t believe the result should be overturned," he revealed. "I think there are too many variables involved in that process just to clearly say ‘if the lapped cars had been left there, Lewis would have 100% won’. I don’t think you can definitively say that."
