Given the question marks that have arisen around the sponsorship deal between the Haas Formula One team and Uralkali, speculation is currently rife about the future of Nikita Mazepin. Team boss Guenther Steiner admitted that that future is uncertain and pointed to Pietro Fittipaldi as a possible replacement, but Antonio Giovinazzi also seems to be in the picture.

'Giovinazzi in the picture at Haas as Mazepin replacement'

According to Scuderiafans.com, Giovinazzi would be a possible candidate for Mazepin's seat, should it indeed become vacant. The latter continues to work at Haas for the time being, but cancelled all meetings with the press.

Steiner designated Fittipaldi as the team's first choice. The 25-year-old Brazilian has already driven two Grands Prix for Haas in the past, when he was called upon to replace Romain Grosjean after his dramatic accident in Bahrain.

According to the Italian website, however, Giovinazzi is also very high on Haas' list. He would also be a suitable candidate, given his experience as a Formula 1 driver. In addition, he is supported by Ferrari, with whom Haas works closely.

Haas already removed the Uralkali logo and the corresponding livery of the Russian flag from the car during the test days in Barcelona, and seems to intend to sever ties with the sponsor. In that case, Mazepin's future with the team hangs by a thread.
