BREAKING | Mazepin can race for Haas F1 in 2022
- GPblog.com
Nikita Mazepin can breathe a sigh of relief. The driver does not have to leave Haas F1 after long consultations with the World Motor Sport Council. However, the Russian will have to race under an neutral FIA flag in the coming period.
Mazepin can stay for now
After long discussions, the WMSC and the FIA have agreed on a package of measures. All drivers from Russia and Belarus will be allowed to race internationally in the coming period, but must do so under a neutral flag.
A big disappointment for Haas F1 and main sponsor UralKali is that references to Russia or the Russian flag will be forbidden for the coming period. Because of this, Mazepin's future with Haas does not seem to be completely guaranteed.
FIA ignores IOC call
The FIA is not listening to the call of the International Olympic Committee. The IOC asked the international sports federations to exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions.
