Ferrari made a promising impression on the general public during the test days in Barcelona. With Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in its ranks, the team seems to be heading for a great season, but Mattia Binotto is keeping an open mind for the time being.
After the disappointing 2020 racing year, the team boss of the Italian racing stable knew that the level had to be raised quickly. Ferrari started the year 2021 with difficulty, but slowly the team developed further. It secured a third place in the constructors' championship, proving that Ferrari was on the way back.
With the new regulations, this season the road is open for Ferrari to compete with the top teams again. The Italians developed a car in recent months with which they immediately performed well on the Barcelona circuit. Binotto is satisfied with the result but the team boss is still aware of what is needed to maintain the high level.
Binotto is realistic about chances
Indeed, Binotto is convinced that the competition is not sitting still. "For judging the performance it is still too early," he therefore judges in conversation with Sky Italia. "Some teams are lowering expectations more than others. We will see that with the tests in Bahrain and with the first races."
