Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen have confirmed that a new contract is in place. Earlier it was revealed that the two parties would agree on a new multi-year contract.

Verstappen was still under contract with Red Bull Racing until 2023, but after the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi, it soon became clear that the two parties wanted to talk again for a new contract. Verstappen said he wanted to stay with Red Bull for life, and the Austrians would be crazy not to tie down the new world champion for longer.

New contract for Verstappen

Verstappen won his first world title with Red Bull Racing in 2021 after a thrilling title battle with Lewis Hamilton. The Dutchman had a lot of bad luck during the year and seemed to narrowly miss out on his first title in Abu Dhabi, but had some luck with a late safety car and Michael Masi's decision to race anyway.

Earlier, De Telegraaf announced that Verstappen had extended his contract at Red Bull Racing. The medium then spoke of a multi-year deal and an annual sum between forty and fifty million euros. This would make Verstappen the highest paid Dutch athlete of all time.
