Jos Verstappen is delighted with the fact that Max will continue to drive for Red Bull Racing for at least seven more seasons. The former Formula 1 driver points out that the relationship between Verstappen and the Austrian racing team is very good and that this has led to a new contract. The 24-year-old Limburger will also benefit financially, which Jos sees as no more than logical.

"That Max is well regarded by the team, I think is more than justified. You see what top deals Red Bull itself has brought in this winter and also Formula 1 itself is on the rise. I'm not saying it's only because of Max, but he definitely plays a big role. Max deserves it too. He is currently the best driver driving around", says Jos Verstappen in an interview with De Telegraaf.

Escape clause

The new contract ensures that Verstappen is under contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of 2028. In previous contracts, the Dutchman always had certain escape clauses. Whether these are also included in this renewed agreement is unknown, but does not sound illogical. Anyway, there is an awful lot of trust in each other back and forth.

The contract Verstappen signed is the biggest ever within Formula 1 in terms of salary and duration. According to De Telegraaf, he would earn between 40 and 50 million euros on an annual basis starting this season.
