Aston Martin has sky-high ambitions. But during the tests in Barcelona and Bahrain it was not yet apparent that that much desired attack on the top is going to be made. If there is a team of which it is unclear where it stands, then it is Aston Martin.

On the plain

Often you can tell how things are going by a driver's statements. Optimistic words, then things are going well. If concerns are expressed, then you know that things are not going according to plan. Sebastian Vettel 's words after the final day of testing on Saturday were neither. The German was not as outspoken as he normally can be.

To FormulaPassion Vettel said he had found the tests tough and demanding. He then went on remarkably, "In any case, first of all I would like to thank all the ladies and gentlemen of the team. We still have a lot of work to do in the next two weeks, as well as the rest of the season, but we still feel ready for the next week. Now it is time to give our best and we will see next week what position we are in."

Picking up the thread

Teammate Lance Stroll was equally reticent: "It was a productive week. We learned a lot about the car in different conditions. Now we are ready to pick up the thread next week."
