Carlos Sainz could be very satisfied with the performance after the first Grand Prix in Bahrain. Where his teammate Charles Leclerc crossed the finish line first, the Spaniard managed to grab second position. Nevertheless, the driver still sees plenty of room for improvement.

Last season Sainz experienced his first year at Ferrari. In the early stages of the season he struggled to perform to a high level, but over the course of the racing year he managed to compete with Leclerc. However, both drivers fell short of the pace set by Mercedes and Red Bull.

Sainz remains critical of performance

In 2022 Ferrari seems to have a good chance of taking the world title. During the race in Bahrain, it appeared that the Italian racing stable has made great strides and is competitive against Red Bull. With Leclerc and Sainz it also seems to have two drivers who can fight for the world title, although Sainz knows that the car still needs to improve.

"We are working on it, but we also need to bring the car a bit too much to my driving style, my liking," Sainz told Sky Sports in the press conference. "And then the results and the pace will come. But still you know we are feeling very comfortable the car we had a P2 but it would’ve had a P3 without Max’s retirement but exciting times ahead."
