Max Verstappen once again hinted this week that he does not want to be part of Drive to Survive. FIA president Stefano Domenicali is hoping to sit down with the Red Bull Racing driver and during the press conference, broadcast by Sky Sports, we seem to be able to deduce from Verstappen's words that he does not have a negative attitude towards it.

Verstappen did appear in the fourth season of Drive to Survive, but he did not speak with the documentary makers. The world champion believes that too much is cut and pasted with images and that drivers are sometimes portrayed in a way that does not do justice to reality.

Verstappen has alternative

Ahead of the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, the subject comes up again."I am sure we will talk about it with Stefano, but it takes a lot of extra time when we are already busy. It's better to do a season review. That's much more fun to watch. But that's my opinion, nobody has to share my opinion, " says Verstappen, who would find a chronological order a better option. "I just don't like being part of it."

As an example, he cites a clip about a situation at McLaren. "What I didn't like, and it's not about me, it's about Daniel and Lando, two great guys, and they made Lando seem like a bit of a d*ck. I know Lando... and you watch the episode and think 'who is this guy?'" For Verstappen, fundamentally, many things must change at Netflix if he is to satisfy Domenicali's desire by appearing in the series.

Image damage among drivers

According to Verstappen, the way Drive to Survive is now presented to consumers is simply damaging to the protagonists. "You immediately get the wrong image of a person, and that's exactly what happened to me at the beginning. I think if you screw up from the beginning, you don't fix it. That's it."
