On Thursday, the Volkswagen Group gave the final green light for the Formula 1 entry of Audi and Porsche. This makes the collaboration between Porsche and Red Bull Racing increasingly likely. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are looking forward to a future with the big brands.

Christian Horner previously called the talks with the Volkswagen Group "logical". Rumors about a future cooperation between Red Bull Racing and Porsche have been circulating for some time. With the departure of Honda, the team is now responsible for the development of the Red Bull Powertrains. However, with the new engine regulations of 2026, a lot will change again.

Indeed, there will be a budget cap on the engine development, making it interesting for other brands to make the move into F1. During the press conference drivers talked about their thoughts surrounding the entry of the two car brands.

Verstappen enthusiastic about Volkswagen Group

Verstappen is positive about the arrival of the new car brands. "I think it's very exciting and it's very important for Formula 1 as well. Of course, you know, we have 10 great teams, but also to have really big brands behind it is really nice, to see that commitment so I'm looking forward to what the future will bring to the teams," says the Dutchman.

Lewis Hamilton also agrees with his rival. "I think it's great that we're going to get new manufacturers within the sport, especially as you see there are a lot of teams that have the potential to be top teams, but are our customer teams."
