Verstappen compares Leclerc and Hamilton: 'Every driver is different'
- GPblog.com
Last season Max Verstappen was still competing with Lewis Hamilton for the world title. This race year Charles Leclerc has taken that place, so the Dutchman has to take other qualities into account. For the reigning world champion, however, this is not a problem, he tells on the FIA press conference.
Last season Hamilton and Verstappen fought several hard duels with each other. While Verstappen was eager to take the world title for the first time in his career, Hamilton was all too eager to take his eighth top prize. In the end it was Verstappen who pulled the longest straw.
Verstappen enjoys battle with Leclerc
Compared to last season, the battle at the front looks different in 2022. Leclerc and Verstappen were close during the Grands Prix of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, but there were no major confrontations. According to Verstappen, there is a difference between the Monegasque and Briton.
"You know, every driver is of course different to fight against," stated Verstappen, who still knows Leclerc well from the past. "We are the same age. We already had our battles in go-karting. But yeah, so far. I mean, this year has been good. Last year has been good. You know, we had really a lot of, I think, enjoyable battles. So I just hope of course that it can continue like this."
