Perez enjoys new rules: 'I love it!'

During qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix, Sergio Perez looked in fine form, but in the end he managed to 'only' grab the third starting position. However, in the race, the Mexican driver is looking to make 'a big move'.
In 2021, Sergio Perez had great difficulty keeping up with teammate Max Verstappen in qualifying, but it is clear that the new cars suit the Red Bull Racing driver a lot better. In Saudi Arabia he managed to grab pole position and things were looking good in Albert Park as well, before red flags threw a spanner in the works.
Due to the red flags, Perez said he could not experiment with different strategies for qualifying. The chosen strategy didn't work quite right, forcing the Mexican to lose several tenths. Still, according to Perez, it wouldn't have mattered, because 'Charles drove a great lap', he revealed in Red Bull Racing's press release.
Ambition for the race
In any case, Verstappen's teammate has no intention of just letting Charles Leclerc drive away on the horizon tomorrow. "Hopefully we can make it difficult for him and deliver a strong race. I love this car, we're learning new things all the time and tomorrow in the race I want to make a big step".
If he drives as strong as his first stint in Saudi Arabia, he can certainly make things difficult for the Monegasque. Especially since Carlos Sainz has to start the race from P9. Perez also received no grid penalty, despite having to report to the stewards.
