This season's F1 calendar has 23 Grands Prix and that is causing logistical problems in the premier class of motor racing. The first signs of this already became visible at the beginning of this year when parts had to be transported from Saudi Arabia to Australia and then flown to Imola. Christian Horner is making the problems moot.

In conversation with Motorsport-Total.com Horner says several factors are responsible for the fact that the planning of the logistics is very tight, sometimes too tight. The Red Bull Racing team boss cites the 'complicated' calendar with relatively many double and triple headers, the rising energy bills and the doubling of freight costs as the main culprits.

Little to spend

With the introduction of the budget cap in Formula 1, all teams have to watch their backs. Teams are already in a dilemma about which parts of the cars to upgrade and on top of that inflation means that teams can spend even less. At the moment the racing teams are allowed to spend a maximum of $140 million on an annual basis.

Especially the top teams have already hinted that they would like to see the budget ceiling raised a bit more, but this has met with resistance from the lesser formations. They feel that the competition should be creative with the money they have.
