Charles Leclerc did not manage to grab another pole position on Friday afternoon. Max Verstappen drove a faster lap than his competitor in Q3 and managed to beat the Monegasque this time. Afterwards, Leclerc was clearly disappointed with the situation.

Prior to the Grand Prix in Imola, Leclerc was one of the favourites for victory. However, during qualifying, he, as well as the other drivers on track, had to deal with tricky track conditions. It caused Leclerc to feel that he could not get everything out of his car.

"It was very tricky," Leclerc analyzed after qualifying. "Especially on the slicks, there were a lot of wet patches and it was a matter of doing laps and waiting until Q3 came to sort everything out, but that's why it's even more frustrating for me."

Sainz fails to set a time in Q3

His teammate Carlos Sainz did not manage to finish qualifying in the third session. He ended up next to the track early in Q3 and was unable to set a time as a result. As a result, he will start Saturday's sprint race in tenth.
