Peter Windsor enjoyed the sprint race at the Imola circuit. The Formula 1 journalist saw Max Verstappen pass Charles Leclerc in fantastic fashion for the victory. According to Windsor, everything about in Verstappen's overtaking action was good, especially since his Ferrari competitor also pulled out all the stops.

Windsdor analyzes the nineteenth lap in his new video on YouTube. The journalist sees that Verstappen hits the gas too hard and then suffers from oversteer.Just under five kilometers later, the reigning world champion had things better in hand. Verstappen was also told he could take advantage of more engine power

'Big move' Verstappen

Verstappen chose the outside, as Leclerc made the choice to protect the inside relatively early on. "Charles was still braking late so it was a big move by Max. There or never. He did it beautifully. Max has judged it perfectly. he could've ran wide, but he judged it perfectly. He just came out of the brakes and throttle at the right moment and pulled away quickly" Important in this, according to Windsor, was that Verstappen did not now make the same mistake by turning onto the straight with oversteer.

Once again, Red Bull seems to have an advantage over Ferrari on the straight. That difference was clearly visible on the penultimate lap, because although Leclerc had more than seven tenths lead after the last corner, he could not prevent Verstappen from passing him in turn two. For Sergio Perez it will therefore be important to stay within a second of Leclerc after the start to build up an overtaking position.
