Lando Norris is open to new experiments when it comes to the format of F1 weekends. In Imola, for the fourth time in history, Formula 1 organized a sprint race on the Saturday with 'normal' qualifying on the Friday. Norris himself has another idea of his own that he would like to try during a weekend.

No free practice sessions

Norris' idea is to skip the free practice sessions completely and start qualifying immediately. However, the Briton immediately admits that he would not want to do this every weekend immediately because the cars are difficult to tune these days. "I guess once in a while it’s something exciting, something different," Norris is quoted by MotorsportWeek.com quoted.

"It’s a big challenge for us as drivers, I guess probably more than anything, to jump in and find the limit," the McLaren driver continued. Norris thinks a driver can stand out more with the limited time and fans might like the idea more.

Sprint weekend in Imola was a success

The first sprint weekend of 2022 held last Grand Prix at Imola was a great success for Norris. After a difficult start to the season, the young Briton, with the help of a spin from Charles Leclerc, suddenly found himself on the podium alongside the two Red Bull Racing drivers.
