Red Bull Racing has had a very successful season with Max Verstappen's world title in 2021 and is also doing well this race year. In this regard, Christian Horner feels it is important to point out that it is not only the people in the foreground who are important to the racing stable, but that the team is clearly bigger.
In a blog from Oracle Connect Hannah Schmitz's role comes to light in detail. With a team around her, Red Bull's strategist has, among other things, the important task of advising when Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen should go in for tyre changes and which compound is best to use.
According to Horner, it plays an indispensable role in doing so. "It’s a key role, sitting trackside on the pit wall, utilizing all the data and information to make decisions about race strategy," he says decisively in the interview. "That role is the linchpin."
Red Bull prepares well
Among other things, Schmidt states in the interview that she and her colleagues often spend weeks in advance preparing for a race weekend. This should help to ensure that the drivers retain confidence in the strategists' explanations. She is therefore more than ready for the Spanish Grand Prix that is coming up this weekend.
