'Mercedes run updates for Spanish GP on secret filming day at Paul Ricard'
- GPblog.com
After Ferrari recently took to the Monza circuit for a secret test day, it was Mercedes' turn on Wednesday. The German racing team chose Paul Ricard as the location for a film day, where George Russell was presumably testing updates ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton was reportedly not in attendance.
For Mercedes, it was the second and therefore last film day of the year, after a film day was also organized prior to the winter test in Barcelona. Officially, the aim is to record images of the current W13, but presumably, a hundred kilometres available will be used to collect data for planned updates.
Mercedes tests updates for Barcelona
Like Ferrari, Mercedes are also planning to bring an update package to Barcelona, reports the Italian branch of Motorsport.com. There the team hopes to take a big step towards solving the extensive problems it has been struggling with since the winter test in Bahrain.
The mileage is not the only limitation when testing new parts: in fact, only special demo tyres from Pirelli may be used, and thus not the usual compounds.
