Formula 2 did find a replacement race for Russian GP

Formula 1 will stick to 22 races and will not replace the Russian Grand Prix, but Formula 2 has filled the gap of the Russian GP with a fourteenth race in the 2022 season.
Due to the war in Ukraine, F1 has decided not to run the Russian Grand Prix in 2022. The organization has been looking for a long time for a replacement, but informed that the final cost of such a replacement race did not outweigh the revenues. In 2022, the F1 calendar will consist of 22 races.
A replacement in F2
The F2 were also due to race in Russia in 2022 and therefore there were only thirteen races left on the F2 calendar. However, the stepping stone class for Formula 1 has added a race to the calendar. On the weekend of July 22-24, it will now be active in Le Castellet, like F1 and F3, during the GP of France.
''Since it was announced that we would drop one event, we have been working on finding a venue to replace it, keeping in mind the costs. Le Castellet came out as the best option, and we are really pleased to return to the Circuit Paul Ricard,'' said Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel. With fourteen races, F2 once again boasts the largest calendar since the start of FIA F2 in 2017.
