Perez has to give up his seat to Red Bull talent during FP1 in Spain

Sergio Perez relinquishes his seat during the first free practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix to Juri Vips. The young Estonian will make his debut in Formula 1.
After Nyck de Vries, Juri Vips is the second driver to be announced to be driving a free practice session in Formula 1 as a rookie. This year teams are obliged to use a driver who has driven a maximum of two race weekends in F1. F1 hopes to give young talent more of a chance with these 'Young Driver Sessions'.
Red Bull talent gets a chance
Vips is a talent of the Red Bull training programme. The Estonian is currently competing in Formula 2 and will also compete in that class this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Vips, along with Liam Lawson, was appointed as a reserve drivers for Red Bull and AlphaTauri ahead of the F1 season. At 21 years of age, Vips still has a chance of making the switch to an F1 team, but his eighth place in the F2 championship has not really impressed so far this season.
