Nyck de Vries enjoyed his participation in the first free practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix. The Dutchman, who normally competes in Formula E, was given the opportunity by Williams and for that he is very grateful. Afterwards, he appeared in front of the camera of Sky Sports.

De Vries a happy man

"It was amazing," De Vries states with the British medium. There was some tension on Friday morning, by his own honest admission."Obviously, I'll admit I was nervous today. More nervous for a practice session than usual. I was grateful and every young driver dreams of becoming a Formula 1 driver. I'm not in F1, but to get out there during a Grand Prix weekend is special and unique."

The De Vries family was also up for seeing Nyck in action in the premier class of motor sport."My dad had flown to Monaco, and had stolen my car and drive to Barcelona because there were no flights. He was in the grandstand opposite my box with my mum."

The 27-year-old driver from Sneek worked through the same program as Latifi. "We did a good job and I'm pleased with how it went," said De Vries, who was then asked about his future plans. After all, his current employer Mercedes is leaving Formula E. "I don't know, recently we've been occupied with Formula E. That was where my thoughts were, let's see what happens in the future."

Latifi trumped

At the end of the race, De Vries appeared to have been even faster than the Canadian Williams driver. "In our industry we are compared to our teammate, we're supposed to have equal equipment. Despite that, there was more to come from my side.", he says.
