The battle between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing has begun tentatively at the press conferences. Pierre Waché, aerodynamics specialist at Red Bull, let it be known, according to Formule1nl that the Austrian team is going to do another investigation of its own.

Aston Martin did the canvassing in Spain for the long-awaited B-spec AMR22. To everyone's surprise, the new car looked an awful lot like Red Bull's RB18. The FIA saw the similarities before and investigated whether everything went according to the rules. After the investigation, the FIA concluded that Aston Martin did not cheat.

Data leak at Red Bull?

Waché says according to Formule1.nl that it is important that everything was done fairly. "The FIA has checked that and it seems to be the case, but we are still doing our own investigation to see if there hasn't been a data leak."

In recent months, many people have transferred from Red Bull to Aston Martin. As a result, there is a chance that intellectual property has been stolen from Red Bull. Waché knows that when people have certain knowledge, they can take it with them to a new team. According to the Frenchman, it is therefore extra important to investigate a possible data leak yourself.

Positive boost

Despite the concerns about the data leak, Waché says he is flattered. He sees a copy of his own car as a positive boost, because it means that his own concept is not bad.
