Helmut Marko is predicting an exciting qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix. According to the Red Bull advisor, the fight for pole position will be between his team, Ferrari and Mercedes, but Red Bull will have to find a compromise to beat the Italians.

Mercedes' updates seem to be working well so far. Also during the third free practice George Russell and Lewis Hamilton looked strong. Max Verstappen finished just behind Charles Leclerc in P2.

Speaking to ORF, Marko says: "Mercedes is in the mix. It will be an exciting race between Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull." According to the Austrian, Red Bull was closer to the Ferrari's today. Yet Marko also foresees problems.

Marko finds speed Ferrari alarming

Ferrari seems to have solved the problems with the longruns in fact. Marko finds it alarming. "We still have the problems in the second sector. What is alarming is that Ferrari has solved most of the problems in the longruns. Leclerc's longrun was very consistent."

To come up with an answer on Sunday, the Red Bull may have to sacrifice some speed during qualifying. "Let's see what compromise we can find for the qualifying run without sacrificing race performance", Marko says.
