Charles Leclerc grabbed pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix at the last minute, but did so in convincing fashion. Max Verstappen could not cash in on his last attempt due to a problem with his DRS, but still managed to hold on to the first row of the grid.

The two rivals will thus start side by side, and Verstappen will want to do everything he can to drive into a leading position after the first corner. In doing so, however, he lacks backing from teammate Sergio Perez, who didn't get further than fifth place.

Sainz will want to attack Verstappen from behind, but he may have to deal with George Russell. Lewis Hamilton has to come from further down in sixth place, so he may get busy with Perez, who already has the experience needed to defend his place against the Mercedes driver.
