Red Bull must leave prize for fastest pit stop in Spain to title rivals
- GPblog.com
Ferrari may have lost the battle on the track to Red Bull Racing, but in the pit lane the team is showing it has made a big step this year. Indeed, the fastest two pit stops in Barcelona were performed by the red team.
Red Bull Racing is known as the fastest pit stop team in the pit lane, but with the new tires and the new pit stop regulations, even the fastest team in the world has to learn everything all over again. It makes the competition closer and in some cases faster. For example, McLaren also won the title for the fastest pit stop several times this season.
Win for Ferrari
This weekend, that award goes to Ferrari, which had by far the fastest pit stop of the weekend for Charles Leclerc at 2.23s. It wouldn't matter for the Monegasque in the end, as he would drop out with an engine problem. The second time is there for Carlos Sainz 's pit stop with a 2.37s.
However, Red Bull Racing also did good business with a third and fourth time. Verstappen's pit stop lasted 2.49s and Sergio Perez 's was only slightly slower: 2.50. The top ten is completed by the pit stops of Esteban Ocon, Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
