Ricciardo hopes for better times: "We learned a lot about the car"

It's not Daniel Ricciardo's season again. A sixth place in his home race is his best result so far and the only time the Australian has managed to score points this season. In Monaco, he hopes to turn the tide at one of his favourite circuits.
Ricciardo disappoints at McLaren
After Ricciardo already failed to live up to expectations during his first season at McLaren last year, this season is even worse. Even Zak Brown is now openly criticizing the driver who he has always supported so far. Also in Spain Ricciardo had a hard time and came no further than twelfth place. "I have had a difficult race and am looking forward to starting the weekend in Monaco," he told his team's press release.
The street circuit through the principality has often favoured Ricciardo in the past. Twice he was on pole position and in 2018 he also managed to win the Grand Prix. "I have a lot of experience with this race, so I hope to make my mark in the MCL36 this year and score some points for the team."
Fighting for top ten ranking
After the Barcelona race, Ricciardo immediately went back to work with his engineers to look as good as possible in Monaco. "We have learned a lot about the car, especially with the good upgrades, and I have a lot of confidence in the team that we will continue to improve. Hopefully, we can have a solid weekend and fight for a top 10 finish. Let's keep pushing!"
