Daniel Ricciardo was confronted during the press conference in Monaco with Zak Brown's statements that the Australian is not living up to expectations. Ricciardo responded with a laugh but was also serious.
In Spain, Ricciardo did not disappoint for the first time on behalf of McLaren. The Australian has not been able to deliver on his promise since his switch from Renault and is being driven around the ears by his teammate. Brown stated in an interview that Ricciardo is not yet living up to expectations and Ricciardo has heard that statement.
Thick skin from Ricciardo
''It's pretty true. I don't take comments personally. My skin is tanned beautiful and also thick. Nobody will be harder on me than myself. I don't want to be racing around 10th or 12th. I believe I can be at the front and belong at the front,'' Ricciardo said at the press conference broadcast by Sky Sports.
''It's been testing at times, trying to maximise myself in this car. We are working hard at it together, the team want it and I want it, so we're just working through it," Ricciardo in reply to Zak Brown's comment about him not living up to expectations at McLaren'', concludes the McLaren driver.
