Daniel Ricciardo folded his McLaren hard into the wall during the second free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix. The driver has already analyzed the crash with his team and thinks he knows where the problem was.
Ricciardo blames aggressive set-up
Speaking to Mara Sangiorgio of Italy's Sky Sports, Ricciardo was brief but firm about his hard crash during FP2: "It's a bit strange, but we found out that we tried something too aggressive with the set-up. "
On the footage, it seemed visible that the Australian lost the rear of his car after some steering corrections in the pool section of the track. It is possible that the adjustments made to the car's rear axle to make it lighter contributed to Ricciardo losing control easily. The team is lucky that it is only Friday, so there is plenty of time to fix the car before FP3 and tomorrow's qualifying session.
