Ricciardo frustrated with performance: "In Q2, we were not making gains"
- Toby McLuskie
Daniel Ricciardo has not been performing to the level needed at McLaren so far this season and today was another day of struggles for the Australian. He wasn't able to make it out of Q2 and will start from 14th on the grid tomorrow.
When asked whether he felt that he had the pace to make Q3, his delayed response was telling of how he felt qualifying had gone, before stating to Sky Sports, "not really! You know when it is coming together."
Strong start to Q1 lost instantly in Q2
"In Q1, we were making good steps and a few mistakes," he exclaimed, "we were putting it together and seemed competitive."
As for Q2, it was a different story. The Australian was unable to make any gains through the 15 minutes and found himself in the elimination zone, splitting the two Haas drivers, which was not where he wanted to be. "Then in Q2, we were not making gains and it was hard to feel where the limit is and where to go. It's frustrating and confusing"
