Helmut Marko is not happy with Sergio Perez's crash during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. According to the Red Bull advisor, his team was on par with Charles Leclerc.

Leclerc was well underway throughout the session in Monaco. Before the final run in Q3 started, the Monegasque was in the provisional pole position. However, things went wrong in the closing stages as Perez ended up in the wall. Carlos Sainz could not avoid the Mexican and crashed into the rear of the RB18.

Because of the red flag, the drivers could not finish their laps, so also Max Verstappen could not improve his time. The Dutchman has to make do with a P4 on Sunday. It is a frustrating result because overtaking on the track in Monaco is not easy.

Marko not happy with result

"It's annoying. Max was three tenths faster until the incident happened. The weak point, turn one, was now solved. We were on par with Leclerc," Marko told ORF in frustration. However, Leclerc thinks otherwise, as the Monegasque says he was four tenths faster on the road in his final run.
