Ferrari reacted after a disappointing Monaco Grand Prix with outrage that no penalty followed Max Verstappen's pit exit, in which he allegedly crossed the line. Verstappen admits that he was on the limit when exiting the pits and explains why that was the case.

Verstappen admits that his pit exit was on the limit, as he tried to make sure he got in front of Charles Leclerc on the track. "I needed it, otherwise he would have passed me," he said according to The Race.

Verstappen saw pit exit as 'highlight' of his race

Whether the moment was only on the limit and not over it, is to be decided by the stewards. Ferrari is outraged by the fact that the Red Bull Racing driver got away with it without the incident being investigated further by the FIA. The FIA has since announced an investigation into the pit exit of both Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

For Verstappen, the moment was one of the highlights of his race, in which he says he didn't experience much. "My pit exit was probably the most fun I had in the race, trying to stay ahead. Summed up my race," said the championship leader.
