The alcohol flowed liberally at Red Bull Racing and especially Sergio Perez after the Monaco Grand Prix. A video appeared of the Mexican who, after his victory in the principality, seemed to have drunk so much that he needed help getting down a ladder from a boat. Perez himself has now come out with a response.
On his Instagram, Perez posted a statement, "I saw the videos that circulated about me and I take responsibility for them. It was an out of control party. I was out of control, but that's all it was, an out of control party."
Criticism of Perez
The 32-year-old driver faced considerable criticism on social media over the past week. Perez recently became a father of his third child and so critics thought it was all wrong what the teammate of Max Verstappen was doing. The number three in the World Cup feels compelled to respond.
"People close to me know my values and know the kind of person I am. For those who ask me, my wife and I are closer than ever". To the people who only want to hurt us, I wish them the best. I thank you all for your love and I apologize to all those people who love me, because those videos do not represent me at all," said Perez, who wants to quickly forget the moment and get back to thinking about things that do matter to him.
