Sergio Perez took his first victory of the season in Monaco. Since the Mexican is still close to Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc after seven Grands Prix, it cannot be ruled out that he will be competing for the world title this season. However, Jolyon Palmer does not expect it to come to that.

All eyes are on Leclerc and Verstappen this season. Both drivers alternated during the first six race weekends when it came to victories, but in Monaco it was suddenly Perez who pulled the longer straw. It seems to offer prospects for him in the coming months.

The analyst tells F1TV at Formula1.com that he does not expect Red Bull Racing to set its sights on Perez. "It's been fun to think so. I just don't see why Red Bull would give him that chance. The fight is so close between Ferrari with Leclerc and Verstappen," Palmer states, indicating that every point for the Dutchman is welcome.

Compliments for Perez's performance

At the same time, Palmer emphasizes that he thinks it is very handsome of Perez how he showed himself in Monaco. According to him, Perez is an excellent teammate of Verstappen and can therefore still be important this season. "It's great that he won the race in Monaco."
