Sergio Perez 's career is at an all-time high. In a short time, he became a father for the third time, won the Monaco Grand Prix and received a contract extension of no less than two years at Red Bull Racing. However, he will have to deliver continuously if he wants to remain assured of the seat next to Max Verstappen, Jenson Button stresses.

Perez's victory put him right in the middle of the title fight with Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. Whether he can continue that line remains to be seen, according to Button. "This is his second win with Red Bull - you only have to look at how many Max has," says Button according to Speedweek.com.

However, the former Formula One driver does think the Mexican can stay a lot closer to Verstappen than before, partly because of his sky-high self-confidence. "We will see a bit more wheel to wheel racing," he continued.

Because of the small points difference between the teammates, Red Bull Racing cannot make it at this stage to focus entirely on one driver, the 2009 world champion reasons.

About the relationship between Verstappen and Pérez, the Briton is not worried. Even if Perez can get involved in the title fight, he believes the good mutual bond will remain intact. "I think so. I think Max is very confident and knows how talented he is. It was a great weekend for Checo, but he has to keep delivering," Button concluded.
