Helmut Marko looks back on the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with a satisfied feeling. The Austrian racing team managed to capture the first two finishing positions, while Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz did not make it to the end of the race.

The Red Bull Racing advisor saw Verstappen drive a relaxed race, in which he even managed to lead the competition astray. "Max distracted everyone on the penultimate lap with his trick. He said he had brake problems and suddenly he was driving purple. All's well that ends well," Marko explained to Servus TV.

Verstappen performs better than Perez

Whereas Sergio Perez went directly past Leclerc on the first lap, securing first position, he let Verstappen drive past him throughout the race. It ensured that the Mexican could not celebrate a victory this time, but had to settle for a second final position.

Although Marko is happy with Perez, he states in conversation with De Telegraaf that there is a clear level difference between the two drivers. "We have nothing on paper, but if you look at the performance there is a difference. Max has shown it on the asphalt," said Marko, who saw Red Bull continue to pull away in the championship.
