Constructors' World Championship after Austria | Red Bull closing in on Ferrari
- GPblog.com
Ferrari have further reduced the gap in the Constructors' Championship thanks to Charles Leclerc's victory in Austria. Whereas the gap after Silverstone was still 63 points, it has now narrowed to 56 points.
The Red Bull Ring was largely about the battle between Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. Max Verstappen was the strongest driver in the sprint race but had to concede to Leclerc during Sunday's race. Ferrari hoped to double up with Carlos Sainz, but the driver and Sergio Perez crashed out with car problems.
McLaren saw competitor Alpine move into a tie for second place with a bad weekend. Haas also did excellent business. The American formation started the weekend in eighth place and is now one position higher. Alfa Romeo, AlphaTauri, Aston Martin and Williams did not manage to score any points.
