Jacques Villeneuve praised Charles Leclerc after his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix. The Monegasque had a fast F1-75 at his disposal, but Villeneuve said he had gained a lot of confidence in the duels with Verstappen.

The Austrian GP was a contest between Leclerc and Max Verstappen. Verstappen was ahead in the early stages of the race and an aggressive strategy from Red Bull saw the Dutchman take the lead twice more, but Ferrari did not budge. The team's strategy was finally correct and Leclerc did what he had to do on track.

Villeneuve also saw that the Ferrari worked better on the Red Bull Ring. In his column for Formule1.com the Canadian states that Red Bull looked a bit insecure. The team tried everything with the strategy, ''But the Scuderia didn't budge,'' the 1997 world champion states.

A compliment also goes to the driver, because Leclerc had to make the moves. The number two in the world championship overtook Verstappen three times, of which Villeneuve especially liked the first one, because it was with equal means. At the time, the drivers were driving with the same amount of fuel on the same tyres. Later in the race, Verstappen didn't really defend like he did in the first moment either. The race was already over.
